Blue Vector Systems and Intelleflex Announce End-to-End RFID Solution; Partnership Enables Semi-Active RFID Systems with a Scalable Network-Based Appliance Infrastructure
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. & SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—April 11, 2005—
Blue Vector Systems and Intelleflex today announced an
end-to-end RFID infrastructure solution that is deployable in supply
chain management, asset tracking, and manufacturing environments,
using a distributed networking approach. This solution enables greater
diversity of processes, which allows businesses to realize new levels
of efficiency in their operations, and provides easy system
integration and a low total cost of deployment. The new solution
consists of Intelleflex's InfoStructure(TM) semi-active tags and
InfoBeam(TM) multi-protocol readers connected to Blue Vector's X-3000
network-based RFID infrastructure appliances configured for asset
management applications.
The Intelleflex and Blue Vector solution offers a compelling
network-based approach from the physical RF layer to the RFID network
infrastructure. The enhanced functionality offered by Intelleflex's
long range high reliability RFID system coupled with Blue Vector's
distributed sensor appliance infrastructure allows for the remote
management and control of the local processes and data associated with
these tags across different environments.
By aggregating containment information and tracking history,
Intelleflex RFID tags combined with the network appliance
infrastructure allow customers to get real-time visibility into the
utilization of their assets. The user defined memory on the tag allows
for storing of manifest, pedigree or maintenance record information as
it travels with the asset, while the network infrastructure reliably
extracts and presents the information for maximum visibility.
For example, in manufacturing applications, the solution can be
used for storing calibration records or configuration information on
the InfoStructure tags as they travel with sub-assemblies allowing
manufacturers to assemble complex machinery with maximum efficiency,
while the network infrastructure coordinates the information exchange
with manufacturing systems. Similarly, in supply chain applications,
the tags can be used on loaded pallets, totes, and containers, to
provide an onboard e-manifest or e-pedigree by aggregating Class 0 or
Class 1 tags from the enclosed units.
"Customers are being driven to improve operational efficiencies by
employing real-time visibility of WIP and product inventory in their
manufacturing and supply chain operations. Product serialization data,
together with associated maintenance or calibration records, needs to
be remotely accessed with 100% read/write reliability in challenging
industrial environments," commented Intelleflex CEO, Naresh Batra. "In
partnership with Blue Vector Systems, we are able to offer customers
all of this in a single solution, which is compatible with industry
standards."
"Companies have indicated to us a need for solutions that offer
the ability to manage different aspects of their business with the
same RFID network-based infrastructure," said Anurag Mendhekar, CEO of
Blue Vector Systems. "Partnering with Intelleflex will strengthen our
combined ability to deliver end-to-end solutions that are easily
deployable, scalable and cost-effective."
